27 B.C, Octavian defeats Cleopatra Marc Antony and takes the title Augustus to become the first emperor of Rome.

Octavian(27 B.C.- 14 A.D.), Julius Caesers grand nephew and adopted son becomes the first emperor of Rome after taking the title of Caeser Augustus.

Octavian or Caeser Augustus had many accomplishments while he was emperor of Rome. One was changing the way that tax collectors work. Before the government would have the collectors go and collect the money. then the government would let them keep some of the money. But the tax collectors take advantage of the situation. They collected more money than they needed to so they could keep more money. But Octavian fized the problem. He started to pay the tax collectors government wage. then the collectors would only collect what the government needed.
Another thing that Augustus did was change the way that the roman functioned. First he expanded the the army to a size of over 15,000 men. he also made it so that there were no slaves in the army. Finally, he created the praetorian gard made up of 9,000 people. those are Augustus's many accomplishments.

Galba- One of his biggest supporters Otho killed him.
Otho- The governor of upper Germany (Vitellius) came through Rome and killed him.
Vitellius-The people from the west (around the China area) Decided that their general Vespasian should be emperor, so his friends traveled to rome to kill Vitellius and succeeded leaving Vespasian as emperor.
Vespasian- died from a sickness.

What is a tetrachry?
The word tetrachry means ruled by four. When the Roman empire split into east and west they had to find a way to rule. They decided that there would be tow rulers, one for the east and one for the west. they are called a Caesar. Then the Caeser chooses somebody to be his Agustus (the person next in line) he will adopt them so that when the Caeser dies the Agustus will become Caeser

- Established Christanity as the official religion of Rome using the Edict of Milan.
-Demonstrates that the tetrachry doesn't work.
Theodosuis 379-302 A.D.
-Ends the gladiator games

The Western Roman Empire fell in the year 467 A.D. their last emperor was Romulus Augustulus. His empire was taken over by Odoacer from Germany
